WAVELAND -- Mrs. Louisa "Aunt Lou" Gilliland, 95, lifelong resident of Montgomery County, died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday at Culver Hospital. She became seriously ill two days ago. Her husband, John W. Gilliland, died in 1940. The farm couple spent most of their lives in the Waveland-Browns Valley community. The deceased was a member of the Waveland Christian Church. She was born on June 23, 1873, in Waveland, the daughter of Thomas N. and Martha Clements Moody. Her marriage to Mr. Gilliland was solemnized on Nov. 19, 1891. Surviving are five sons, Earl of Plymouth, Sherman of Jamestown, James of Lafayette and John and Harold of Waveland; four daughters, Miss Grace Gilliland of Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. Everett Myers and Mrs. Robert Pruitt of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Guy Purdue of Waveland; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Joe and Herman. Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday in the Machledt and Servies Funeral Home. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
